How A Photographic Project Improved My Photography.

Black and White Square Format Photographic From the Grave Yard Of Brentor Church

Photography is a challenging but rewarding endeavour. Like any creative pursuit, it can be difficult to find inspiration and motivation. I've been there myself, and I know how frustrating it can be. I have found that there are ways to break out of that rut. And find new inspiration for your photography. One of the methods that worked well for me is to take on a mini-project.

I've been working on a one-day photography project that helped me to get out of my creative rut. I chose a location I know well, one thats been photographed many times before. Instead of approaching it the same way as everyone else, I've decided to take my time and look for original compositions. I want my photographs to stand out from all the ones I have seen and taken before.

One of the things that I've found helpful is to think about how I want to present my project before I start. I've decided to present my project as a series of 9 photographs arranged in a 3x3 grid. I'm taking all of my photographs in square format. This has helped me to focus on finding unique compositions and details that other people haven't captured. I believe that this is what will make my project stand out

Another thing that I've been doing is shooting close-up details of the location. For example, I've been focusing on a rusty bolt on an old door. I find the side lighting interesting. It will give me nice highlights and details in the finished image.

I know that many other photographers might be experiencing a creative rut as well. I hope that by sharing my experience, I can help others to find new inspiration for their photography.

Taking on mini-projects, thinking about how you want to present your project, and looking for unique compositions and details are all ways that you can break out of a rut and find new inspiration for your photography.
