Landscape Photography Workshops
The Core Philosophy
Let me share thirty-five years of experience with you. Possessing excellent camera equipment, reading textbook guides, and attending club meetings frequently leaves developing photographers feeling stuck. The true challenge lies in reading an unpredictable environment and translating it into a compelling exposure. These dedicated one-to-one field sessions bypass generic advice to diagnose your specific visual roadblocks, giving you a repeatable workflow to create deliberate, impactful images.
Training Formats & Pricing Matrix
Half-Day Problem Solver
Clear a specific technical barrier, such as exposure control, long-exposure filter use, or edge-to-edge sharpness, in a targeted three-to-four-hour diagnostic session on the moors. You leave the field with a practical, permanent fix to a frustrating problem.

Authority Validation
I have spent more than three decades working through the transition from traditional film chemistry to modern digital systems. This darkroom-to-digital longevity provides an understanding of the fundamental physics of exposure, optics, and light that goes far beyond the menu settings of any specific camera brand.
Your field session is backed by a verified commitment to the photographic community. As a regular contributor to international journals including On Landscape and a veteran lecturer for the Royal Photographic Society, I specialise in breaking down complex environmental logistics into repeatable field skills.
I operate with an absolute open-book policy. If a specific technique falls outside my expertise, I will tell you directly. You are investing in honest, dependable mentorship designed to leave you with the permanent confidence to self-correct your own imagery long after our weekend on the moors is over.
Field Realities & Logistics
All training takes place directly within the open, unpredictable environment of Dartmoor National Park.
Sessions are scheduled strictly on Saturdays and Sundays to ensure deep, uninterrupted concentration in the field.
Full-day frameworks involve six to seven hours of active engagement and require walking up to six miles across rough, uneven ground.
The raw nature of these outdoor locations means public facilities or managed shelters are unavailable during our time on the moors
Individual physical and emotional support needs are gladly accommodated. You are welcome to bring a non-paying partner, chaperone, or support adult for assistance at no extra cost.
Recommended accommodation and client discount available at Duchy House Bed & Breakfast in Princetown (available after booking if required).
