LEGAL, TERMS & PRIVACY
Our Approach to Legalities: We believe in transparency. This page outlines how we protect your data, the ground rules for buying prints or booking workshops, and how we protect our creative work. No hidden clauses, no incomprehensible jargon — just honest, mutual respect.
1. Privacy Policy: How We Handle Your Data
We only collect the absolute minimum amount of information needed to run this website and fulfill your requests. We will never sell, lease, or give your data away to third parties for marketing purposes.
When you sign up for the Newsletter: We collect your name and email address. This is used solely to send you our regular field dispatches and early print announcements via our newsletter system. You can opt out at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email.
When you buy a Print: We collect your name, email, billing address, and shipping address. This data is passed securely to our checkout providers (Stripe/PayPal) to process your payment, and to our professional printing house strictly to print and mail your artwork.
When you book a Workshop or Lecture: We collect your contact details and any specific requirements you share so we can coordinate dates, locations, and logistics safely.
Your Legal Rights: Under UK data protection laws, you own your data. If you want to know exactly what information we hold about you, or if you want us to permanently wipe your data from our systems, simply send an email to our contact address and we will handle it as soon as possible.
2. Terms of Sale: Prints, Workshops & Lectures
When you purchase a product or service from Brian Northmore Photography, these straightforward rules apply:
Fine Art Print
Printed to Order: Every print is created custom for you upon order. Because of this bespoke nature, we cannot accept returns or issue refunds for changes of mind or simple buyer's remorse.
Damaged Deliveries: If your print arrives damaged in transit, we will replace it free of charge. Please take a clear photograph of the damaged packaging and print immediately upon arrival, and email it to us within 14 days so we can submit a claim to the courier and print your replacement.
Workshops & Mentoring
Cancellations by You: If you need to reschedule or cancel a booked 1-to-1 session, we require at least 14 days' notice to transfer your booking to a future date. Cancellations inside 14 days are non-refundable unless we can successfully fill your slot from our waiting list.
Postponement Due to Weather or Training Suitability: The wilderness is unpredictable. If conditions on the moors or coast become dangerous, we reserve the right to postpone a workshop for safety. Additionally, if we mutually agree that the weather conditions are completely unsuitable for effective photographic training and coaching, we reserve the right to postpone the session. In either scenario, we will work with you to arrange a mutually agreeable alternative date.
Cancellations Due to Unforeseen Circumstances: In the rare event of severe illness, emergency, or completely unexpected, unforeseen circumstances on my end, I reserve the right to cancel a workshop. If this occurs, we will offer you the choice of arranging an alternative date by agreement or receiving a full refund of your workshop fee.
Equipment, Safety & Personal Insurance: The wilderness is an inherently uneven, rocky, and wet environment. When you attend an in-person workshop, you are responsible for your own safety and the security of your equipment at all times.
Your Equipment: We cannot and will not be held liable, responsible, or legally accountable for any accidental damage, breakdown, loss, or theft of your cameras, lenses, tripods, or personal belongings during a workshop. You are strongly advised to ensure your equipment is fully covered by specialized photographic insurance before attending.
Your Safety: While we take every reasonable, professional precaution to guide you safely across the terrain, you are responsible for your own physical movements. By booking, you acknowledge that outdoor photography involves inherent natural risks (including slips, trips, and changing weather) and agree that you attend at your own risk. For absolute peace of mind, we highly recommend taking out
personal accident insurance for your trip.
Camera Club Lectures
Remote and Digital Delivery: Bookings are formalized via our separate calendar confirmation. Because most of my presentations are delivered remotely via live video link, physical travel disruptions are rare.

Unforeseen Cancellations & Rearrangements: In the event of technical disruptions, sudden illness, or other unforeseen reasons on my end that prevent the lecture from taking place, I reserve the right to cancel or postpone the presentation. In these rare circumstances, we will work closely with your cloud secretary to either rearrange the presentation for an alternative date or issue a full refund of the lecture booking fee.
OUR LIMIT OF LIABILITY (IMPORTANT CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS SHIELD)
We understand that clients often book travel tickets, rent vehicles, or reserve accommodation to attend our workshops or coordinate club presentation events. However, because nature and life are unpredictable.
OUR FINANCIAL LIABILITY TO YOU IS STRICTLY CAPPED AT THE EXACT AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE PRODUCT, WORKSHOP BOOKING, OR LECTURE FEE.
We cannot, under any circumstances, be held responsible, liable, or legally accountable for covering, reimbursing, or compensating you for any related personal or organizational costs — including non-refundable hotel bookings, accommodation fees, train tickets, flights, car rentals, fuel, or subsistence expenses — if a session or presentation has to be cancelled, rescheduled, or postponed for any reason. We highly recommend purchasing independent personal travel insurance to protect your financial commitments against these external travel and accommodation costs.
3. Intellectual Property & Copyright
Every photograph, video clip, and article on this website is the original creative work of Brian Northmore and is fully protected by UK and international copyright laws.
What you CAN do: You are incredibly welcome to view these images on your screen, share links to our blog posts, and talk about our photography with your peers.
What you CANNOT do: You may not download, screenshot, copy, alter, print, or use any image or text on this website for commercial purposes, artificial intelligence (AI) training datasets, or personal distribution channels without explicit, written permission from Brian Northmore. Stealing images destroys the sustainability of independent photography.
4. Cookies & Website Analytics
Functional Cookies: This website uses native Squarespace cookies to handle core features, like keeping track of the items inside your shopping cart while you browse the print store.
Analytical Cookies: We use basic web analytics to see anonymous patterns — like which blog posts are popular or what country our traffic comes from. This data is completely anonymous and does not track you across other websites on the internet. You can adjust your web browser settings at any time to block or delete cookies if you prefer.
